Contractors are using a helicopter with an aerial saw to trim trees along the railroad tracks in Tuscumbia.
Norfolk Southern has employed an Arkansas company to trim trees and brush along the right of way, which would normally be out of reach for most trimmers.
The project comes ahead of winter and is intended to reduce risk of large limbs or entire trees falling across the tracks due to snow or ice.
Old Lee Highway is closed between Vulcan Road and US 72 due to the road’s proximity to the tracks.
