Wilson Lock Closed for Repairs

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, has closed the main lock chamber at Wilson Lock on the Tennessee River, following a recent inspection that revealed cracks in the lock gates.

The Corps of Engineers said in a press release that safety is their top priority, and this precautionary closure will help prevent further damage and protect the lock’s functionality.

Starting September 27 at 6 a.m., the auxiliary lock will be open for navigation, though passing traffic may experience delays of 16-24 hours for a typical 15-barge tow.
