On August 2nd, 2024 at around 10:15 pm, the Florence Police, Florence Fire, and Lifeguard EMS responded to a fatal crash on Helton Drive just north of Rickwood Road. An 18-year-old named Jesse Christopher James from Muscle Shoals tragically passed away due to injuries sustained in a collision.
The incident occurred when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle entering the roadway from Helton Court. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to North Alabama Medical Center and received treatment for non-life- threatening injuries.
