The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Reports a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 2:54 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, has claimed the lives of two men.
Logan J. Humphries, 23, of Golden, Miss., was fatally injured when the 2014 GMC Sierra that he was driving left the roadway and struck several trees. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passengers, Mario Aguire, 22, and Alan V. Fernandez, 19, both of Belmont, Miss., were injured and transported to Helen Keller Hospital, in Sheffield, for treatment. Fernandez later succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.
Seat belts were not used by the driver or passengers at the time of crash. The crash occurred on Alabama 247 near the 15 mile marker, approximately eight miles south of Cherokee, in Colbert County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
